Two dead, two injured in high-speed crash on North Road | People
Title
Two men were killed and two were severely injured early Saturday morning when the car they were in slammed into a tree on the 17600 block of North Road at more than 70 miles per hour.
Snohomish County deputies were called to the crash scene just after 2 a.m. When they arrived, two were already dead and the others were trapped in the wreckage. According to Lt. Stephen Dittoe, it took more than an hour to cut open what was left of the vehicle enough to get the survivors out.
The two surviving men were taken to Harborview Medical Center. One was in critical condition and the other was in serious condition. All four men in the car are between the ages of 20-22 years old.
Initial speed estimates at the scene estimate that the car, travelling northbound, was going between 70-80 miles per hour when failed to negotiate a corner posted at 25 MPH. North Road generally has a 35 MPH speed limit.
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Collision Investigation Unit is still looking into the crash, but they believe alcohol, along with the excessive speed, were the main factors in the crash.
