Bird rehabilitating at PAWS

A wild bird is on the mend at PAWS in Lynnwood, according to the center's blog.

After getting a call about a beached Western Grebe in Edmonds, a Wildlife Rehabilitator went to check it out. She found the bird in a wet patch of sand below the ferry terminal, very cold and lethargic.

She drove the bird to PAWS where they gave him fluids and placed him in an incubator to combat his hypothermia. As he dried off, he started to become active and extremely agitated toward his caretakers, which  means he was starting to feel better.

Rehabilitators found a small wound on his breast and an abrasion beneath his bill, but he was otherwise in good condition. He'll remain at PAWS until the water-repellency of his feathers fully returns.
